Pets Are Customers Too

David is the
plumber to go to. Not only is he
extremely thorough he took time to make friends with the family pet
(Shadow the
dog) while replacing the toilet. The new Toto toilet is wonderful (the
self
closing lid keeps guests endlessly entertained!). I can't imagine
someone being
more trustworthy than Mr. Heffner. ...I will call no other plumber for any work
that I
need.

Dear Mr. Heffner,
It is very rare in this day and age that I am so impressed with a product or service that I am motivated to write a thank you note, but this time I feel obligated.
As you recall, in February 2008 you installed the Pro Series 2400 battery back-up to our sump pump line. Though not the least expensive system available, we "bit the bullet," took your advice and had you do the install.
The ultimate test came just 4 1/2 months later. Amid the torrential rains in June, our neighborhood lost power for nearly 6 hours. In the ten years we have lived here, I had never seen water pour into the sump pit as fast as it did that night. Our sump pit has three corrugated lines feeding into it. One of those lines I had never, ever seen a drop of water drain, but it just poured in that night. Now for the best part.
Immediately upon loss of power, the Pro Series alarm activated and thepump went to work. After approximately 1 hour of "normal" (9-12 minute intervals) discharge frequency the water was pouring in so fast that the back-up system never shut off. The system ran continuously, literally non-stop for the next 4 hours. The last hour or so, the pump only shut off for 3-5 second intervals before the power was restored and the regular sump pump resumed operating. It wasn't until 5 maybe 10 minutes before the power was restored did the back-up battery start showing 50% charge. I am confident that we would have had hours of operation remaining.
There are 12 homes with basements in this neighborhood. Nine of them flooded that night. The two of us that had the Pro Series and the next door neighbor that I loaned both my car batteries to (after they exhausted their own) stayed dry. Either the systems couldn't handle the volume or their batteries gave out.
A couple of weeks ago at about 3:30 AM, I heard the alarm again. I jumped up and ran downstairs to check the system. After I witnessed it cycle once, I pushed the button, silencing the alarm and went back to bed, confident that under "normal" circumstances I had nothing to worry about and that the back-up system would still be functioning at my normal wake-up time. What a relief to not stand, staring into a sump pit, stressed out of my mind worrying whether or not my basement would flood.
Thank you, thank you and thank you again for the peace of mind and comfort I have just knowing that the Pro Series back-up you installed can handle the most dire situations we'll probably ever encounter.

I was looking for a plumber and saw this endorsement. I had received a couple of
coupons in the mail for the big franchise plumbing companies, but decided to
give David Heffner a shot. David came by today to fix a leaky shower drain. He
quickly diagnosed my problem and was able to fix it on the spot, which saved me
from having to coordinate another visit.In addition to resolving my
immediate need, he also identified a slow
leak in my reverse osmosis drinking
water storage tank. Unfortunately, I'll have to have Kinetico come out to fix
that problem.
David was friendly, professional and I would definitely
recommend him to family and friends.

"Originally, we had a water leak in our laundry room while we were gone for one night. We came home to find the laundry room and part of the bedroom soaked with water. David came out and stopped the water leak. After being out of our home for 2 weeks while the toxic mold was being treated, we arrived home and David was there promptly at 10 am and stayed till 8 pm. It could have been easy for him to have said I'll be back tomorrow, but, given we'd been out of our home for 2 weeks, he stayed until he got our water turned back on. That means, he installed a water heater (with thermal pump), drain pans, water softener, and well pump all in one day. Then, came back the next day and installed the reverse osmosis system on our kitchen sink and whole house water filter. David did an excellent job. He was prompt, he was great at explaining things (to where we didn't feel dumb) and was great at giving tips. I'd hire David in a heartbeat. Wish there were more like him."

"I had an overhead pipe in my basement with a slow leak. I found David on Angie's List, and phoned him. He returned my call promptly. I told him I didn't think there was any hurry to repair it, since it was such a slow leak. He disagreed, saying that it would be better to fix it quickly (before it became a fast leak). He rearranged his schedule to come to my home in Broad Ripple the next day. Fixing the pipe only took him about an hour. He's a good guy, he did a great job, he didn't overcharge me, he explained in detail what he was doing, and he was nice to my dogs. I hope I never have another plumbing problem; but if I do, I'm going to call David."
